Solebury: signed over to early settlers in 1686, Solebury is home to the regions earliest quaker settlers. Spanning 27.2 miles, its seperated from New Jersey by the Delaware River. An area rich with history (Aquetong Valley,Carversville,Center Bridge,Cuttaloosa,Lumberville,& Phillips Mill) you'll see evidenced in the historic homes, stone bridges and farmland. It is also rich in art, and was home to famous Pennsylvania Impressionist Daniel Garber, and luminist artist Marlin Johnson Meade. It's not hard to see why this area has been a constant source of inspiration for artists. Solebury includes Bowman Hill (also in Upper Makefield Township,) Carversville (also in Plumstead Township,) Center Bridge, Highton (also in Buckingham Township,) Pe ters Corners, and Solebury, and is part of the New Hope-Solebury School district. It is also home to the Solebury School a private co-ed day and boarding school.
